Republicans Didn’t Know Dick!
Amazing, the loose coalition formally known as the Republican Party is slowing corroding and falling into disrepair. Formed of social conservatives, fiscal conservatives, and security conservatives the party previously owned and controlled by the social conservatives has been hijacked by the so called neo-conservatives.
The religious fringe of the Republican Party started out being tolerated by the rest of the party, then courted by them and now it seems they are demanding the affections of a party that has simply lost interest in them.
Dick Cheney, in 1994, made it clear that he was completely against going into Iraq for exactly all the reasons we are now stuck in the middle of the worst mistake this country has ever made.
The Republicans thought they knew Dick, but as it turns out … not so much.
A Modest Proposal
If Republicans think so little of our children maybe they’d be in favor of converting them into bio-fuel instead of providing them with health care. Rather than caring about S-CHIP and making sure that this nation’s next generation gets health care. Maybe we could look at our younger folks as a solution for our nations dependence on foreign oil.
Consider for a moment that meat contains about 1,300 calories per pound. Given that the average child might weigh between 50 to 100 pounds, that is up to 13,000 calories per child if we can figure out a way to convert children into bio-fuel! Who knew children were so valuable in the Republican view of the world?
Now, please do not misunderstand here, in no way shape or form is this a proposal to violate the sanctity of an unborn fetus’s right to life. No sir indeed, until they are born it is well understood that George Bush is 110% in favor of protecting children – it’s the already born for which he has no compassion.
So, why not kill two birds with one stone? We could even bring our troops home from Iraq because we wouldn’t need to worry about he flow of middle eastern oil if we had a steady supply of bio-fuel converted from the children to whom the Republican’s don’t want to give health coverage.
How would the plan work? Easy, actually – all children have parents according to Republican think. So, therefore their parents should be responsible for paying all their medical bills. If the parents are so irresponsible as to not be able to afford the medical costs of childhood cancer, an automobile accident, or some horrible life threatening disease then - again according to Republican Think - the parents are to blame for having had the children in the first place.
So, if Senate Republican staffers e-mails are to be believed our society has no obligation to help children with such idiotic parents. Taking this logic one step further shouldn’t we as a nation even be able to benefit from the situation?
If we take these children and turn them into bio-fuel the S-CHIP issue is resolved, our dependence on oil is over and Republicans can even claim this is the ultimate extension of being “Pro-Life”.
NOW, it’s the 4th of July?
If it’s Fred Thompson announcing for President, then it must be the 4th of July, right? Oh, wait, he was three months late. Maybe Fred just thinks it is Hollywood fashionable to be late.
Does that mean if he gets elected President, he’ll wait until April for the inaugural ceremonies? The question is what was Fred hiding from during those three months. Why would he have not wanted to jump into the campaign and get up on stage and answer voters questions?
[ Insert Law and Order Sound Here ] Something is wrong with this picture and it most likely has to do with a piece of Senator Thompson’s history he was cleaning up to prepare for the rigors of the campaign trail.
Best of luck Fred.
Nasty Naughty Senator
The real shame behind the entire Senator Craig issue is how acceptable it still is to gay bash. The Moral Majority, the Christian Coalition and other conservative pundits are all over the talking heads shows calling Senator Craig’s actions, “a moral failing”.
Mind you they aren’t talking about having sex in public, nope. They are talking about being gay. As the newest graduating class of Liberty University takes to the streets looking for jobs specifically designed to strips gays and lesbians of the civil rights (oddly enough in the name of upholding the civil rights of Christians), let’s all take a moment to reflect upon the coverage of the Craig scandal.
The left is attacking him for being 99.44% pure hypocrite – and they are correct. Craig is fighting what he considers moral demons to play at a pretend straight marriage. And that would be fine in and of itself; but, he took it too far, he actually attempted to screw other gay people over with laws designed to strip them of the very rights afforded to every citizen in the US Constitution.
Being a hypocrite is harding BREAKING NEWS these days and the more concerning issue is the way the right is attacking Craig. They are pure and simply gay bashing. Questioning his morality not because he was a naughty boy in a public place, but because he is gay.
The question as to if the Conservative Right Wing of American politics has any scruples has long ago been answered in the negative. This for them is, however, a new low.
DNC Being Tricked by Florida Republicans
Florida? They seriously want to piss off Floridians? The DNC has said that Florida can have no delegates to the 2008 Democratic convention unless the duly elected legislature of the state of Florida moves it Primary to February 5.
Let’s think about this for a moment. Exactly why would the Republican controlled legislature in Tallahassee want to do anything to appease the DNC? After all, who will the voters blame if they get no representation at the Convention – the Democrats or the State House?
Then, come November, Florida’s electorate (still annoyed at the Democrats for shunning them) will head to the polls to vote for President. Why exactly should they vote for anyone with a (D) after their name if the (D) party doesn’t want their participation at the convention?
The DNC is actually trying to lose the White House in ‘08 by irritating the State that they lost by only 500 votes in 2000, and that is just plain dumb.
The DNC needs to suck it up and re-vote to allow Florida and any other state to hold their election whenever the people of that state want to hold their election. If that calendar doesn’t fit into the schedule of New Hampshire, Iowa or the DNC then too bad! But, Florida’s voters will not forgive the DNC if the Democratic Party is stupid enough to allow themselves to be manipulated by the Republican controlled Florida State House.
Hastert to Start the Ball Rolling
Former Speaker Hastert will be the first of many members of Congress with an R after their names to step down and leave the governing to others. Why? Because it’s simply not as much fun to be in the minority as it is to be in the Majority.
Republican’s treated the Democrats like dirt for twelve long evil years while they were in the Majority, and now they whine and complain that the Democrats are treating them about 50% as badly.
Look for many more Republicans to simply not run for reelection. This “minority effect” will sweep an even larger Democratic majority into the House and Senate in 2008.
The high price of Lower Taxes
There is no such thing as a free lunch an somebody has to pay for bridges, roads, policemen, garbage pickup, parks, street sweeping, firefighters, 911 and ambulances. Yes, everyone wants lower taxes, but not at the cost of bridges falling down or water mains creating house eating sink holes.
Have our Federal, State and Local governments become like most publicly held companies? Only concerned with the current quarters profits and not concerned with the future strength or weakness of the enterprise?
It is imperative for national and local security that our roads are in good repair, that our water and gas mains stay intact and that our general welfare be maintained. If our current crop of elected officials do not have the balls to raise taxes and secure our greater good, then we as a society need to throw the bums out and elect a new crop.
Yes, everyone enjoys lower taxes. But those people on that bridge in Minnesota most likely wish they’d paid that little bit of gas tax instead of falling into the Mississippi river.
No Wonder Oreilly Hates the DailyKos.com Site
Ok, now it’s clear. O’Reilly hates the Daily Kos site because it free. It wasn’t clear at first exactly what Bill was whining about this time, but now it makes since. O’Reilly is attempting to get Internet users to pay nearly fifty bucks a year to subscribe to his website; while, The Daily Kos site is 100% free.
If you can’t find what floats your boat at The Daily Kos website, then try Politico or Topix, both totally cost free.
What on earth makes Mr. No Spin think his site is worth so much that he can charge for so called premium features? Features such as just listening to the radio show anyone can capture off the air for free!
It was always evident that Bill had a screw loose, now we all know the loose screw was in his wallet. Geez.
Republicans as Bad as Democrats!
The Democratic candidates who are refusing to participate in the Fox News Debate are wrong. As well, the Republicans refusing to participate in the YouTube.com debate are also wrong. Since when should a candidate refuse to answer questions from voters?
OK, so the first YouTube/CNN debate was sometimes on the silly side and maybe snowmen should be disqualified from asking questions in the future. However, at least one debate should have all the questions come from real people and not from the talking heads from Cable or Broadcast TV.
If Mitt Romney can’t handle a snowman asking him questions, how does he propose to handle Osama Bin Landen?
Shame on the Republican candidates for thinking they are too good to have a voter ask a question directly. Format be dammed, a voter’s question is a voter’s question and deserves an answer.
